80km for Jack, a little boy close to our hearts.

80km for Jack, a little boy close to our hearts.

This weekend, I’m taking on 23km of the Bondi to Manly Ultra as part of Team Cure SCN2A, and I’m raising money for a cause incredibly close to our hearts.

I’m running for our friends Mel and Scotty and their beautiful four-year-old son, Jack, who lives with SCN2A, a rare genetic disorder.

I’d absolutely love your support.

Whether it’s $5, $20, $50 or simply sharing Jack’s story, every bit of support helps Cure SCN2A accelerate research towards a treatment for Jack and children like him around the world.

Because this one is bigger than golf.

23km for Jack. For research. For hope. For a big future. 💙

Why I’m running for Jack

We’re lucky enough to call Mel and Scotty our friends.

Their son Jack lives with SCN2A, a rare genetic disorder that affects brain function and development.

After years of searching for answers, genetic testing finally gave their family a diagnosis shortly before Jack’s third birthday.

But with that diagnosis came another incredibly difficult reality: there is currently no treatment that addresses the underlying cause of Jack’s condition.

Rather than accept that, Mel and Scotty decided to do something about it.

They established Cure SCN2A, a registered charity dedicated to accelerating research towards a treatment for SCN2A.

What began as two parents fighting for their little boy has grown into a mission that could help change the future for children and families around the world.

And now we want to help them.

20km for something much bigger

On Saturday 24 October, I’ll take on 23km of the 80km Bondi to Manly Ultra as part of Team Cure SCN2A.

There will undoubtedly be moments during training and on race day when 20km feels hard, am I a runner, no.
Have I doubted myself, yes. But all that doesn't matter where there is something bigger at play.

20km is temporary.

For Jack and other children living with rare genetic conditions, the challenges don’t stop when the finish line arrives.

That’s what I’ll be thinking about when the legs get tired.

Every kilometre is for Jack.

Every donation helps move research forward.

And every person who shares his story helps more people understand why funding rare disease research matters.

Rare kids deserve big futures

This is for Mel and Scotty.

It’s for all the researchers working towards answers.

But most importantly, it’s for Jack.

80km for Jack.
$80K for research.
Help us raise funds towards a big future. 💙
