As an industrial designer with over 20 years of experience, Craig has dedicated his career to creating smart, practical solutions that improve everyday experiences. During Covid, he found time to step away from the design studio, play more golf, and immerse himself in the game. But he quickly realized a common frustration—carrying sand to repair divots was inconvenient and messy. The traditional sand bucket was cumbersome and inefficient. As a designer, he saw an opportunity to innovate.
Designing Smarter Solutions
Craig has always been driven by problem-solving through design, and his track record speaks for itself. In 2011, he won an Australian Good Design Award for Klinch™, a tool lanyard system designed to prevent dropped tools for workers operating at heights, over water, or in confined spaces. By addressing a real safety issue, Klinch™ became a commercial success in Australia and internationally, proving that thoughtful design can have a lasting impact. (Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing more about Klinch™ in the coming weeks!)
Now, he’s applying that same design thinking and innovation to the golf world. After countless prototypes and refinements, Gopher Caddy was born—a spill-proof, hands-free sand carrier designed to make walking golf easier and more enjoyable.
Prototype to Product Series – Coming Soon!
Bringing an idea from concept to market is a journey, and Craig is excited to share his process in an upcoming series: “Prototype to Product.” He’ll take you behind the scenes of Gopher Caddy’s development, offering insights into design, prototyping, and real-world testing.
Whether it’s workplace safety or improving the golf experience, Craig’s mission remains the same: to create smart, user-friendly solutions that make life easier.
Stay tuned for more insights from Craig and his journey in design!
