More Than Golf: Why We Created Tee Time & Me Time

More Than Golf: Why We Created Tee Time & Me Time

When we first had the idea for Tee Time & Me Time, it wasn’t really about creating another golf event.

It was about creating a space.

A space where women could turn up without feeling like they needed to know the rules, own all the gear or already be good at golf.

A space to give it a go, have a laugh, meet new people and feel comfortable learning together.

And after our first event, we realised just how important that was.

Sometimes, starting is the hardest part

Golf can feel intimidating when you’re new.

Where do you go? What do you wear? What club do you use? What if you completely miss the ball? And what if everyone around you knows exactly what they’re doing?

Sometimes the biggest barrier isn’t whether you want to try golf — it’s having someone to try it with.

That was a huge part of why we created Tee Time & Me Time.

We wanted to take away some of that pressure and create an environment where it was completely okay to be a beginner.

Miss the ball? Who cares.

Never held a golf club? Perfect.

Already play and want to meet more women to play with? Come along.

There was no expectation. Just an invitation to give it a go.

Connection was the best part

Watching the girls on the day was pretty special.

Yes, there was golf. There were some great shots, plenty of questionable ones, a bit of friendly competition and lots of laughs.

But what stood out most was the connection.

Girls who hadn’t met before were chatting, encouraging each other, celebrating each other’s shots and making plans to play again.

By the end of the afternoon, girls were asking if we could create a WhatsApp group so they could stay connected, organise practice hits, book lessons together and find people to play with.

And that, for us, was probably the biggest sign that this was about much more than two hours of golf.

We want more women to feel like golf is for them

There are so many reasons to love golf.

It gets you outside. It gives you time away from everyday life. It’s social, challenging and something you can continue learning for years.

But to enjoy all of that, you first need to feel like you belong there.

We want women to feel comfortable walking into a driving range.

We want them to have someone to message and say, “Want to go for a hit?”

We want beginners to know they don't need to be good before they start.

And we want to help create more opportunities for women to meet, learn and play together.

This is just the beginning

Our first Tee Time & Me Time started as a bit of an experiment.

Was I nervous putting on our first Gopher event? Absolutely.

Was I ready to give it a go? HELL yes.

And seeing the girls together confirmed exactly why we needed to do it.

So now we want to keep building on it.

We’ll be sharing information about lessons, women’s social golf and places to practise around Sydney, while continuing to create opportunities for this community to get together.

And yes… Tee Time & Me Time will be back.

To every girl who came to our first event: thank you.

Thank you for showing up, giving it a go, supporting one another and helping turn an idea into a community.

Here’s to more girls picking up clubs, making new friends and feeling like there’s a place for them in golf.

See you at the next tee time. 💚⛳️
