Every great golfer starts somewhere.
This week, the 2026 NSW Junior Championships at Magenta Shores Golf & Country Club brought together some of Australia's brightest young golfers to test themselves on one of the country's toughest championship courses.
From battling coastal conditions to managing the pressure of elite competition, these athletes showcased not only incredible talent but also resilience, discipline and maturity well beyond their years.
At Gopher Caddy, we're incredibly proud to support three outstanding young golfers—Ti Fox, Ben Ellu and Noah Adey—who represented themselves, their families and their clubs with pride throughout the week.
Magenta Shores: A Championship Test
Nestled along the NSW Central Coast, Magenta Shores Golf & Country Club is renowned as one of Australia's premier championship layouts.
Its links-style design, ever-changing coastal winds, strategically placed bunkers and demanding greens mean every shot requires commitment and precision. One lapse in concentration can quickly turn a birdie opportunity into a bogey.
It's the perfect stage for identifying the next generation of Australian golf stars.
More Than Just Golf
One thing many people don't see is everything these young athletes juggle behind the scenes.
Between tournaments they're balancing:
- School or study and work
- Travel across Australia
- Practice sessions before and after class or work
- Strength and conditioning
- Family life
- The mental side of competing at an elite level
Success doesn't happen by accident—it comes from thousands of hours of practice that most people never see.
Ben Ellul: Hard Work Paying Off

One of the standout stories from the week came from Ben Ellul, whose commitment to chasing his golfing dreams has seen him make a significant life change.
"I've recently moved to an online school. It's the same as a mainstream school—you just do it online. It's much more flexible with my golf."
After the opening round was washed out, the championship was reduced to 54 holes, adding another layer of pressure to an already elite event.
"I was three shots back after round one and then held a one-shot lead after the second round."
For Ben, the tournament marked a huge career milestone.
"It was such a relief to finally get my WAGR status. It felt like everything I had been training for and all the hours behind the scenes finally came together."
That result has opened another exciting opportunity.
"With this win it will get me a start in the Victorian Open."
It's a reminder that every early morning practice session and every sacrifice eventually creates opportunities.
Noah Adey: Finding the Positives

Golf has a way of testing every player—especially mentally.
For Noah Adey, the week didn't quite produce the results he was hoping for, but his perspective showed exactly why he's a player to watch.
Despite striking the ball well throughout the tournament, Noah couldn't get the putter working.
"It was a frustrating week because my ball striking was there, but my putting was the worst it's ever been in my life. Yesterday I had more putts than hits—I didn't think that was possible!"
Instead of dwelling on disappointment, Noah focused on what the week had taught him.
"If that didn't happen, I wouldn't know that's what I need to work on. There's plenty to take from it."
Perhaps his biggest takeaway was the confidence gained from competing alongside Australia's best.
"It also showed me that my game is at the same level as all the big guns. I just have to tighten a few things up and we'll be back up the top of the leaderboard in no time."
That mindset and learning from setbacks rather than fearing them—is what helps great golfers become even better.
Ti Fox: Setting the Standard

After claiming the NSW Junior Championship title in 2025, Ti Fox once again demonstrated why he's regarded as one of Australia's most exciting young golfers.
His consistency, professionalism and dedication continue to inspire the next generation, and it's been a privilege watching his journey unfold.
We know this won't be the last time we'll see Ti competing on some of Australia's biggest stages.
Building Something Bigger Than Golf
At Gopher Caddy, we often say we're building something bigger than golf.
Supporting young athletes like Ti, Ben and Noah is a huge part of that mission.
They remind us that golf isn't just about scorecards. It's about resilience, learning, friendships, hard work and continually striving to improve.
Whether it's celebrating a breakthrough victory, earning a world ranking, or learning valuable lessons from a tough week, every experience shapes the golfer and the person they're becoming.
Congratulations
Congratulations to every player who competed at the 2026 NSW Junior Championships.
To Ti Fox, Ben Ellu and Noah Adey; thank you for representing Gopher Caddy with such passion, humility and determination. We're incredibly proud to be part of your journey and can't wait to see what comes next.
The future of Australian golf is in very good hands. 🏌️⛳
